Privacy Policy for Normally
Last updated: February 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Normally ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use the Normally macOS app ("Normally" or "the app").
1. Summary
Normally is designed to process media files locally on your Mac. We do not operate user accounts, and we do not collect or transmit your personal data to our servers through the app.
2. Information the App Uses
Normally may access and store the following information on your device:
- Folders you choose to watch.
- File-processing history (for example: file name, path, status, gain applied, timestamps, attempts, messages).
- App settings (for example: appearance, startup behavior, processing options).
- Temporary working files created during processing.
This information is used only to provide app functionality and is stored locally on your Mac.
3. How Information Is Collected
- Directly from your actions in the app (for example, selecting folders and changing settings).
- From files in folders you explicitly grant access to via macOS permissions.
- From local processing tools bundled with the app (for example, FFmpeg/FFprobe) running on your device.
4. How Information Is Used
- Detect new media files in selected folders.
- Analyze and normalize audio according to your settings.
- Show processing progress and history in the app UI.
- Support troubleshooting via local logs/console output.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing.
Normally uses third-party open-source media tools (such as FFmpeg/FFprobe) locally on your Mac. These tools process your files on-device; they are not cloud services.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
- Processing history and settings are stored locally until you clear them or uninstall the app.
- Temporary files are intended to be cleaned up automatically after processing.
- You can clear history from within the app.
- You can remove watched folders at any time.
- You can delete local app data by uninstalling the app and removing its local data files.
7. Consent and Controls
You control whether the app can access files/folders by granting or revoking macOS file permissions. You may revoke access in macOS System Settings at any time.
8. Children's Privacy
Normally is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect the app and local data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date when changes are made.
